The San Raflu Pond (named after St. Raphael) is located in a small rural area just outside the village of Kerċem. This is the only natural waterhole where natural freshwater accumulates and persists throughout the year, even during the hot summer months. The area boasts a large variety of flora while the pond hosts the painted frog, which is the only indigenous amphibian found in the Maltese islands. One can witness various ducks swimming too. A fantastic seaview is also enjoyable from the cliff nearby.
