Located on the edge of the village, on the way to Wied il-Għasri is a small countryside chapel dedicated to The Patronage of the Virgin Mary. Built in 1738 it soon attracted devotees from all over the island and consequently was rebuilt on a larger scale in 1754, becoming the first consecrated countryside chapel in Gozo in 1789, remaining so for 161 years. From 1872 until 1921 it served as a vice-parish church for the village of Ghasri.
The facade has four pillars in Doric style holding up the two-storey building. Two small bell towers host three bells between them. The Basilica has a cupola without a lantern. On the inside, the altarpiece, attributed to Francesco Zahra, depicts the Virgin Mary, surrounded by angels, protecting beneath her mantle a human being who is hiding from Satan.
The feast is celebrated on the second Sunday of October.
